Hipsters are apart of our world culture whether we like it or not. Are you a hipster? Am I one? Do hipsters know they’re hipsters? The one thing we know is that it’s a subculture that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, witty banter and so on. Hipsters are often seen wearing vintage inspired clothes, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers, and thick rimmed glasses.
The Hipsteria playing card deck was created by Slava Shestopalov. In reference to this project, Slava said, “This deck represents the most remarkable elements of hipster subculture, designed in a minimalistic manner…My idea was to make each piece of the deck individual even if it is a numeric card. Hipsteria numeric cards contain the quantity of items that matches their value.” The cards touch on seven hipster topics: clothes, accessories and tools, logos and emblems, interior, food, hipster people, and fun.
In the virtual museum of Canada there is a photograph dated 1941 where a man in modern clothes is thought to be a time traveler and is given the name of “The Time Traveling Hipster”. [via]
