NASA Artemis III Spacesuit

186

Hey there, space fans! NASA just dropped some major news - the newest spacesuit for the Artemis III mission has been revealed! That's right, the suit that will be worn by the moonwalkers (including the first woman to step on the Moon!) has been created in collaboration with Axiom Space and it's seriously advanced.

Not only is this bad boy flexible enough to let the crew members roam around the lunar surface with ease, but it's also super protective to keep them safe from that harsh environment. And let's be real, when you're strolling around on the Moon, you need all the protection you can get!

Now, I know what you're thinking - why isn't the suit hot pink or neon green or something more exciting? Well, while the final suit will have to be white to reflect heat and protect the astronauts from extreme temps, this prototype has a slick dark gray cover layer designed by Esther Marquis from the Apple TV+ series For All Mankind to keep its super cool design a secret. Can't have anyone stealing that proprietary tech, right?

Factoid: Here's a rare fact about the Apollo missions: During the Apollo 11 mission, while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were on the surface of the Moon, Michael Collins was orbiting above them in the Command Module. At one point, Collins was completely alone and became the most isolated human being in history, as he was on the far side of the Moon where he lost all communication with both Earth and his fellow astronauts on the surface for approximately 47 minutes. It's a rare and eerie experience that very few people have ever had!
