The ThingMaker and the accompanying app provide kids an easy way to make their own toys at home. While the actual 3D printer isn't necessarily anything to gab about, the app is the hero. It comes with built-in character templates and easy-to-use tutorials to help beginners get going. Once kids have the hang of it they can design toys from scratch. The ThingMaker printer does come with some handy safety features; a door that locks while printing and a retractable head when it's not printing (all to help avoid burns and other injuries to kids).
