Ceramic Abuse – Laurent Craste

181

There's something very therapeutic about throwing a piece of china or a fancy vase to the floor and watching it crash and explode into bits and pieces. Laurent Craste takes that destructiveness in another direction. Ceramic Abuse is his collective works with ceramics that have a personality to them -- or they used to, they've all been murdered or at least abused. Instead of the fragile nature of ceramics that we've come to know, Laurent makes them appear to be pliable as they "react" to the violence that's been applied to them.

Factoid: The US is the only country that has minors (under the age of 18) serving life sentences. Many countries don't even have a life sentence. In Nepal, the maximum sentence a criminal can receive is 20 years.
